A Certain Kind of Father
There’s a certain kind of Father
who stands above the rest,
who always puts his family first
and always gives his best.
He has a fair and gentle way
of treating everyone,
and shares his quiet wisdom
gained from all he’s seen and done.
His children and his grandchildren
admire the way he lives,
and love him for the precious gifts
of family joy he gives.
A million times I’ll need you
A million times I’ll cry,
If love alone could have saved you
You would’ve never died.
In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still,
In my heart you hold a place
That no one can ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of me went with you
The day God took you home.
Things will never be the same
Although it hurts so bad,
I will smile whenever I hear your name
And be proud you were my Dad.
To Have You For Our Dad
To have you for our DAD,
Was cause enough for pride.
No one could ever equal you,
No matter how they tried.
You left us precious memories,
Your love is still our guide.
Although we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.
Father you meant so much to me;
Heaven sent, for all to see.
You gave me strength, held me dear;
Raised me right, that much is clear.
You led by example, were always a friend;
My love for you will never end.
Your presence calmed me, day or night;
Told me everything would be all right.
Goodness was you personified;
Total endearment I cannot hide.
So it is with gratitude that I do say:
Father you were the best, in every way.
Always kind to us was father,
Always good and brave and true.
Though his tasks were often heavy,
He would always see them through.
Never craved for fame or fortune,
Never sought the spotlight’s glare;
Always working, sacrificing,
Never failed to do his share.
Now he’s resting up in Heaven,
In that blessed land above;
Where there is no pain nor sorrow,
Only joy and peace and love.
We Sat Beside Your Bedside (Father)
We sat beside your bedside,
our hearts were crushed and sore;
we did our best to the end,
‘til we could do no more.
In tears we watched you sinking,
we watched you fade away;
and though our hearts were breaking,
we knew you could not stay.
You left behind some aching hearts,
that loved you most sincere;
we never shall and never will
forget you Father dear.
God’s Masterpiece (Father)
God took the strength of a mountain…
The majesty of a tree…
The warmth of a summer sun…
The calm of a quiet sea…
The generous soul of nature…
The comforting arm of night…
The wisdom of the ages…
The power of the eagle’s flight…
Then God combined these qualities,
There was nothing more to add.
His masterpiece was now complete,
He lovingly called it, DAD.
The Silent Tears (Father)
The silent tears that each must shed,
Like rain upon the ground,
Will nourish all the love for him,
Which did in life abound.
Our Father’s labors now are over,
His earthly labor done;
And now he rests in peaceful sleep,
His rich rewards are won.
His family sheds a silent tear,
The grandchildren, too, must mourn;
But they again will meet him
When eternal life is born.
