Prayer E1

23rd Psalm (Catholic)
The Lord is my shepherd! I shall not want.
In verdant pastures he gives me repose;
Beside restful waters he leads me;
he refreshes my soul.
He guides me in right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk in the dark valley I fear no evil;
for you are at my side. With your rod and your staff
that give me courage. You spread the table before me
in the sight of my foes; You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows. Only goodness and kindness
follow me all the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house
of the Lord for years to come.

Prayer E4

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
and one clear call for me:
And may there be no
moaning of the bar,
when I put out to sea.
For thou’ from out our borne
of Time and Place,
the flood may bear me far.
I hope to see my Pilot face to face,
when I have crossed the bar.
- Tennyson

Prayer E7

Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone
who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, and sought thy intercession,
was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To thee do I come, before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy,
hear and answer me. Amen.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph
My Jesus, mercy
O Sacred Heart of Jesus,
I place my trust in Thee.

Prayer E10

Our Lady of Guadalupe
Our Lady of Guadalupe, mystical rose
Since you are the ever, Virgin Mary
and Mother of the true God,
obtain for us from your Holy Son
the grace of a firm and a sure hope.
In the midst of our anguish, struggle,
and distress, defend us from the power
of the enemy, and at the hour of our death
receive our soul in Heaven. Amen.

Prayer E13

Rose of the Cross
Rose of the Cross, thou Mystic Flower,
I lift my heart to thee,
In every melancholy hour,
O Mary, remember me.
Let me stand where thou hast stood,
Beside the crimson tree;
And by the Water and the Blood,
O Mary, remember me.
There let me wash my sinful soul,
And be from sin set free,
Drawn by thy love, by grace made whole,
O Mary, remember me.
“We have loved her dearly during life,
let us not abandon her until we have
conducted her by our prayers
into the house of the Lord.”
– St. Ambrose

Prayer E16

St. Francis
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,
pardon; where there is doubt,
faith; where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not
so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved, as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying
that we are born to eternal life.

Prayer E19

St. Patrick
O Great Apostle of Ireland,
glorious St. Patrick,
to whom under God,
so many are indebted for the most
precious of all treasures,
the great gift of Faith,
receive our fervent thanks
for the zeal and charity which have
been to thousands the source
of blessings so invaluable.
Ask for all who dwell in this land
and the land of thy labors,
the precious light of Faith,
and beg for us on whom its glorious
rays have long since beamed,
the grace to regulate our lives
by its sacred maxims.

Prayer E22

When You’re Alone with Jesus
When you’re alone with Jesus
And He sweetly smiles on thee,
Will you gently whisper to Him
A little prayer for me?
And when I’m alone with Jesus
And all else is hid from view,
I’ll gently drop into His heart
A little prayer for you.
Jesus, Mary, Joseph,
My Jesus, mercy.
O Sacred Heart of Jesus,
I place my trust in Thee.

Prayer E25

John 3:16
For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him
shall not perish but
have eternal life.
John 3:16

Prayer E28

Your Servent (Female)
Remember O’ Lord your servant,
(Insert Name) who has gone before us
With the sign of Faith and rests
In the sleep of peace.
To her O’ Lord and all who
Rest in Christ, we beseech You
To grant of Your goodness
A place of comfort, light, and peace.

Prayer E31

God’s Masterpiece (Mother)
God took the fragrance of a flower…
The majesty of a tree…
The gentleness of morning dew…
The calm of a quiet sea…
The beauty of the twilight hour…
The soul of a starry night…
The laughter of the rippling brook…
The grace of a bird in flight…
Then God fashioned from these things
a creation like no other…
And when his masterpiece was through,
He called it simply – MOTHER.

Prayer E34

The Silent Tears (Mother)
The silent tears that each must shed,
Like rain upon the ground,
Will nourish all the love for her,
Which did in life abound.
Our Mother’s labors now are over,
Her earthly labor done;
And now she rests in peaceful sleep,
Her rich rewards are won.
Her family sheds a silent tear,
The grandchildren, too, must mourn;
But they again will meet her
When eternal life is born.

Prayer E37

Dad
A million times I’ll need you
A million times I’ll cry,
If love alone could have saved you
You would’ve never died.
In life I loved you dearly
In death I love you still,
In my heart you hold a place
That no one can ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you
But you didn’t go alone,
For part of me went with you
The day God took you home.
Things will never be the same
Although it hurts so bad,
I will smile whenever I hear your name
And be proud you were my Dad.

Prayer E40

God’s Masterpiece (Father)
God took the strength of a mountain…
The majesty of a tree…
The warmth of a summer sun…
The calm of a quiet sea…
The generous soul of nature…
The comforting arm of night…
The wisdom of the ages…
The power of the eagle’s flight…
Then God combined these qualities,
There was nothing more to add.
His masterpiece was now complete,
He lovingly called it, DAD.

Prayer E43

We Sat Beside Your Bedside (Father)
We sat beside your bedside,
our hearts were crushed and sore;
we did our best to the end,
‘til we could do no more.
In tears we watched you sinking,
we watched you fade away;
and though our hearts were breaking,
we knew you could not stay.
You left behind some aching hearts,
that loved you most sincere;
we never shall and never will
forget you Father dear.

Prayer E46

Child’s Prayer
Weep not for me,
My family dear,
I am not dead,
But sleeping here,
As I am now,
You shall be,
So be prepared to follow me.
Short was my life,
Long is my rest,
To take me home,
God thought it best.

Prayer E49

Little Angels
When God calls little children
to dwell with him above,
We mortals sometimes question
the wisdom of His love.
For no heartache compares
with the death of one small child,
Who does so much to make our world
seem wonderful and mild.
Perhaps God tires of calling
the aged to His fold,
So He picks a rosebud
before it can grow old.
God knows how much we need them
and so He takes but few,
To make the land of heaven
more beautiful to view.
Believing this is difficult
still somehow we must try.
The saddest word mankind knows
will always be “Goodbye.”
So when a little child departs,
we who are left behind,
Must realize God loves children
Angels are hard to find.

Prayer E52

Veteran
O God, by whose mercy
the faithful departed find rest,
look kindly on your departed
veteran who gave their life
in the service of their country.
Grant that through the passion,
death and resurrection of your Son
they may share in the joy
of your heavenly kingdom
and rejoice in you with your saints forever.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Prayer E55

Golfers Prayer
“Almighty God, as we play through
our 18 holes of life, we pray that you
will give us a drive that’s both
long enough to reach our goals, and yet
straight enough to keep us out of trouble.
“Help us avoid the traps and hazards of life;
nevertheless, should we find ourselves
in them, give us the tools, skills and desire
to escape them with no penalty.
May we always stay in bounds.”
“Help us to be willing to stand by –
and not play through – those in genuine need.
May we always play with honor.”
“And finally, when we’ve putted out
on the 18th green, we pray that we will
have demonstrated the integrity of our character,
so that you will judge us worthy enough
to join your threesome and play eternally
on your heavenly course. Amen.”

Prayer E58

Tackle and Rod (Fishing)
When I climb the Stairway to Paradise
I’m taking my tackle and rod;
Because when I go out fishing
I always feel closer to God.
I’ll find a clear lake with fish jumping;
I’ll sit on the bank and find the rest,
Enjoying the good peace and quiet
As the birds settle down in their nests.
Then in the cool hush of evening
As I kneel down to offer a prayer;
I’ll feel a warm hand on my shoulder,
And I’ll know that my Lord’s standing there.
We’ll sit, and we’ll talk in the moonlight
Oh, what a glad day that will be!
I’ll know peace with God, my Savior;
Yes, that will be heaven to me.

Prayer E61

A Beautiful Life (Female)
A Beautiful Life
Came To An End.
She Died As She Lived,
Everyone’s Friend...

Prayer E64

A Light is Gone (Female)
A light from our household is gone
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home
That never can be filled.
The Golden Gates did open,
A gentle voice said “Come,”
And with farewell unspoken,
We said, “Thy will be done.”
May the Blessed Virgin greet her
And present her to her Son,
May His Sacred Heart receive her,
As it was God’s Will was done.

Prayer E67

Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an afterglow
of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve
to dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave
when life on earth is done.

Prayer E70

Angels Lead
May the Angels lead thee into
Paradise, may the martyrs receive
thee at thy coming, and take thee to
Jerusalem, the holy city.
May the choirs of the Angels receive Thee,
And mayest thou with the once poor
Lazarus, have rest everlasting. Amen.

Prayer E73

Do Not Stand
Do not stand at my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

Prayer E76

Forever in Your Heart
Remember the good we shared,
take time to celebrate me.
Remember the joy and love we
shared, and do not cry for me.
I know that I will miss you and
you will miss me too,
but take some time to smile for me
when you are sad or feeling blue.
As you hold me in your memory
even though we are apart,
my spirit will live on
forever in your heart.

Prayer E79

God Saw You Getting Tired (Female)
God saw she was getting tired,
and the cure was not to be,
so He put His arms around her
and whispered “Come with me.”
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer,
and saw her fade away.
Although we loved her dearly,
we could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

Prayer E82

Her Journey
Don’t think of her as gone away
her journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears,
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today,
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched
for nothing loved is ever lost
and she was loved so much.

Prayer E85

I Thought of You with Love Today
“I thought of you with love today
but that is nothing new,
I thought about you yesterday
and days before that too.
I think of you in silence
I often speak your name,
all I have are memories
and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake
with which I’ll never part,
God has you in His keeping
I have you in my heart.”

Prayer E88

In Tears We Saw You Sinking
In tears we saw you sinking,
We watched you fade away.
You suffered much in silence,
You fought so hard to stay.
You faced your task with courage,
But still you kept the fight.
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be,
So He put His arms around you,
And whispered, “Come with Me.”
So when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful, free from pain,
We could not wish you back,
To suffer that again.

Prayer E91

Life in your Years
In the end,
it’s not the years
in your life that count,
it’s the life in your years.

Prayer E94

Loving and Kind (Female)
Loving and kind in all her ways,
Upright and just to the end of her days;
Sincere and true in her heart and mind,
beautiful memories she left behind.
She had a nature you could not help loving,
A heart that was purer than gold;
And to those who knew her and loved her,
Her memory will never grow cold.

Prayer E97

Miss Me - But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room;
Why cry for a soul set free.
Miss me a little – but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared.
Miss me – but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It’s all a part of the Master’s plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me – but let me go.

Prayer E100

Remember Me In Your Heart
To the living, I am gone;
to the sorrowful, I will never return;
to the angry, I was cheated.
But to the happy, I am at peace.
And to the faithful, I have never left.
I cannot speak, but I can listen.
I cannot be seen, but I can be heard.
So as you stand upon a shore
gazing at a beautiful sea...
as you look upon a flower and admire
it’s simplicity... REMEMBER ME.
Remember me in your heart,
your thoughts, and your memories
of the times we loved, the times we
cried, the times we fought, the
times we laughed. For if you always
think of me, I will never have gone.

Prayer E103

Safely Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
There is still work waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in God’s own land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

Prayer E106

Success
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of the intelligent people
and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty; To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
To know that one life has breathed easier
because you lived here. This is to have succeeded.
By: Ralph Waldo Emerson

Prayer E109

The Road of Life
I shall pass through this world but once,
any good therefore that I can do
or any kindness that I can show
to any human being, let me do it now.
Let me not defer or neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

Prayer E110

The Ship (Female)
I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white sails
to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until at length she hangs
like a speck of white cloud just where the sea
and the sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says;
“There, she is gone!” “Gone where?”
Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull
and spar as she was when she left my side
and she is just as able to bear her load
of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment when someone at my side
says; “There, she is gone!” there are other eyes
watching her coming, and other voices ready
to take up the glad shout; “Here she comes!”

Prayer E112

There’s a Reason
THERE’S A REASON
For every burden that we bear,
For every sorrow, every care,
There’s a reason.
For every grief that bows the head,
For every tear-drop that is shed,
There’s a reason.
For every hurt, for every plight,
For every lonely pain-racked night,
There’s a reason.
But if we trust God as we should,
All must work out for our good.
He knows the reason.

Prayer E115

Walk Alone
Should you go first and I remain,
To walk the road alone,
I’ll live in memories garden, dear,
With happy days we’ve known.
In spring I’ll wait for roses red,
When faded, the lilacs blue,
In early fall when brown leaves fall,
I’ll catch a glimpse of you.
I’ll hear your voice, I’ll see your smile,
Though blindly I may grope,
The memory of your helping hand
Will buoy me on with hope.
Should you go first and I remain,
One thing I’d have you do:
Walk slowly down that long, long path,
For soon I’ll follow you.
I’ll want to know each step you take,
That I may take the same.
For someday down that road,
You’ll hear me call your name.

Prayer E118

Weep Not
Weep not for me, when I am gone,
I’ve lived my life, I’ve sung my song.
Known tears and laughter, sun and rain,
A life that brought more joy than pain.
I’ve been content with love so deep,
That peacefully, I’ll ever sleep.
A love we shared with joy untold,
And kept me young, though I grew old.
I’ve held my babies in my arms,
And felt the thrill of their sweet charms.
Had many friends and family too,
That smoothed the way as I passed through.
Weep not for me, when life is done,
For I have been the richest one.
I will go home, content to see
The One who gave it all to me.

Prayer E121

When Through One Woman
When through one woman
A little more love and goodness,
A little more light and truth,
Come into the world,
Then that woman’s life
Has had meaning.

Prayer E124

Whispers From Heaven
When I left this world without you
I know it made you blue.
Your tears fell so freely,
I watched: I know this is true.
From this wonderful place called heaven
Where all my pain is gone.
I send a gentle breeze to whisper,
“My loved ones, please go on”.
The peace that I have found here
Goes far beyond compare.
No rain, no clouds, no suffering--
Just LOVE from everywhere.
You need not be troubled
Just stay close to GOD in prayer
Someday we’ll be reunited, my love,
HIS love is EVERYWHERE!

Prayer E2

A Farewell Prayer
“Thank you Lord for seeing how weary I am,
and letting me rest. The pain is gone,
the peace is beautiful. Your love surrounds me.
I have fought the good fight
and somehow now at this stage,
no matter what the outcome,
I feel I have won.”
– My Wish –
‘For everything there is a season.’
“I want my family to move on with
their lives, and realize
everything is for a reason.
Have no regrets.
Everybody did everything they could.
I love you all and will still be with you.”

Prayer E5

Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou
among women and blessed
is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Prayer E8

O Gentlest Heart of Jesus
O Gentlest Heart of Jesus,
ever present in the Blessed Sacrament,
ever consumed with burning love
for the poor captive souls in Purgatory,
have mercy on the soul of Thy departed servant.
Be not severe in Thy judgment
but let some drops of Thy Precious Blood
fall upon the devouring flames, and do Thou,
O merciful Savior send Thy angels
to conduct Thy departed servant
to a place of refreshment, light and peace. Amen.

Prayer E11

Prayer for the Intercession
of Saint John Paul II

O Blessed Trinity, we thank you for
having graced the Church with Saint John Paul II
and for allowing the tenderness of your fatherly care,
the glory of the Cross of Christ and the splendor
of the Spirit of love to shine through him.
Trusting fully in your infinite mercy
and in the maternal intercession of Mary,
he has given us a living image of
Jesus the Good Shepherd. He has shown us
that holiness is the necessary measure
of ordinary Christian life and is the way
of achieving eternal communion with you.
Grant us, by his intercession,
and according to your will, the graces we implore.
Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Prayer E14

St. Anthony
O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints,
your love for God and Charity for His creatures,
made you worthy, when on earth,
to possess miraculous powers.
Miracles waited on your word,
which you were ever ready to speak for those
in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought,
I implore of you to obtain for me (request).
The answer to my prayer may require a miracle,
even so, you are the Saint of Miracles.
O gentle and loving St. Anthony,
whose heart was ever full of human sympathy,
whisper my petition into the ears of the
Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be
folded in your arms;
of my heart will ever be yours.

Prayer E17

St. Joseph
Oh, St. Joseph, whose protection is so great,
so strong, so prompt before the throne of God,
I place in you all my interest and desires.
Oh, St. Joseph, do assist me
by your powerful intercession,
and obtain for me from your Divine Son
all spiritual blessings,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
So that, having engaged here
below your heavenly power,
I may offer my thanksgiving and homage
to the most Loving of Fathers.
Oh, St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you,
with Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach
while He reposes near your heart.
Press him in my name and kiss
His fine head for me and ask Him to return
the kiss when I draw my dying breath.
St. Joseph, Patron of departed souls – Pray for me.

Prayer E20

St. Therese
O little flower of Jesus,
Ever consoling troubled souls
with Heavenly Graces,
In your unfailing intercession
I place my confident trust.
From the Heart of our Blessed
Savior petition these Blessings
of which I stand in greatest need.
Shower upon me your promised Roses
of Virtue and Grace, dear
St. Therese, so that swiftly
advancing in sanctity and in
perfect love of neighbor,
I may someday receive the
Crown of Life Eternal. Amen.

Prayer E23

23rd Psalm (Protestant)
The Lord is my shepherd! I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul; he leadeth me
in the path of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death I will fear no evil
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff
they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me
in the presence of mine enemies;
thou anointest my head with oil. My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life; and I will dwell
in the house of the Lord forever.

Prayer E26

Rock of Ages
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood
From Thy side a healing flood,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save from wrath, and make me pure.
While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyelids close to death,
When I rise to worlds unknown,
And behold Thee on Thy throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.

Prayer E29

Your Servent (Male)
Remember O’ Lord your servant,
(Insert Name) who has gone before us
With the sign of Faith and rests
In the sleep of peace.
To him O’ Lord and all who
Rest in Christ, we beseech You
To grant of Your goodness
A place of comfort, light, and peace.

Prayer E32

Mother
In restful sleep our mother lies
But we need shed no tear;
For now she rests with Him above,
Free from her labors here.
The Master above has called her,
To come to Him above;
Where He bestows His blessings,
On those who gave Him love.
And we shall meet her there one day,
Our joy shall be sublime;
For we shall be with mother again,
Be with her for all time.

Prayer E35

We Sat Beside Your Bedside (Mother)
We sat beside your bedside,
our hearts were crushed and sore;
we did our best to the end,
‘til we could do no more.
In tears we watched you sinking,
we watched you fade away;
and though our hearts were breaking,
we knew you could not stay.
You left behind some aching hearts,
that loved you most sincere;
we never shall and never will
forget you Mother dear.

Prayer E38

Dearest Father
Father you meant so much to me;
Heaven sent, for all to see.
You gave me strength, held me dear;
Raised me right, that much is clear.
You led by example, were always a friend;
My love for you will never end.
Your presence calmed me, day or night;
Told me everything would be all right.
Goodness was you personified;
Total endearment I cannot hide.
So it is with gratitude that I do say:
Father you were the best, in every way.

Prayer E41

The Silent Tears (Father)
The silent tears that each must shed,
Like rain upon the ground,
Will nourish all the love for him,
Which did in life abound.
Our Father’s labors now are over,
His earthly labor done;
And now he rests in peaceful sleep,
His rich rewards are won.
His family sheds a silent tear,
The grandchildren, too, must mourn;
But they again will meet him
When eternal life is born.

Prayer E44

A Lament for my Baby
I never got to hear you laugh,
you never saw me cry.
I didn’t get a chance to say “Hello,”
you never said “Goodbye.”
I didn’t think that I could feel so sad,
lost and forlorn, I never knew God chose
his angels before some of them were born.
Your life was short yet special,
I shared it all exclusively,
I felt you breathe, I felt you kick,
you were alive inside of me.
Every baby is an angel,
and every angel is divine,
God needed one in heaven,
He came down and took mine.
And although we are not together,
we’re not really apart, for you’ll always
occupy a space deep within my heart.
Time has begun to ease my pain,
it’s only some days now I cry,
when I wish I could have said “Hello”
and heard you say “Goodbye.”

Prayer E47

God Needed an Angel in Heaven (Girl)
God needed an angel in Heaven
To stand at the Savior’s feet;
His choice must be the rarest
A lily pure and sweet.
He gazed upon the mighty throng
Then stopped and picked the best,
Our child was His chosen one
With Jesus she’s now at rest.

Prayer E50

A Veteran Died Today
He was just a common veteran
And his ranks are growing thin.
But his presence should remind us
We may need his like again.
For when countries are in conflict
Then we find the military’s part.
Is to clean up all the trouble
That the politicians start.
If we cannot do him honor
While he’s here to hear the praise.
Then at least give him homage
at the ending of his days.
Perhaps just a headline that might say,
Our Country is at Mourning for
A Veteran Died Today.

Prayer E53

Fireman’s Prayer
When I am called to duty, God,
wherever flames may rage;
Give me strength to save some life
whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
before it is too late,
or save an older person
from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
and hear the weakest shout,
and quickly and effectively
to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
and to give the best in me.
To guard my every neighbor
and protect his property.
And if according to my fate
I am to lose my life,
please bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife. Amen.

Prayer E56

Golfer’s Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity
to accept the shots I miss,
the courage to try, try again,
and the wisdom not to
throw my clubs in the lake.

Prayer E59

Teacher
One day I would like
to teach just a few people
many and beautiful things
that would help them
when they will one day
teach a few people.

Prayer E62

A Beautiful Life (Male)
A Beautiful Life
Came To An End.
He Died As He Lived,
Everyone’s Friend...

Prayer E65

A Light is Gone (Male)
A light from our household is gone
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home
That never can be filled.
The Golden Gates did open,
A gentle voice said “Come,”
And with farewell unspoken,
We said, “Thy will be done.”
May the Blessed Virgin greet him
And present him to her Son,
May His Sacred Heart receive him,
As it was God’s Will was done.

Prayer E68

Alzheimer Prayer
Please grant my visitors tolerance for my confusion,
forgiveness for my irrationality
and the strength to walk with me
into the mist of memory my world has become.
Please let them take my hand and stay awhile,
even though I seem unaware of their presence.
Help them to know how their strength and
loving care will drift slowly into the days
to come just when I need it most. Let them know
when I don’t recognize them that I will... I will.
Keep their hearts free from sorrow for me,
for my sorrow, when it comes, only lasts a moment,
then it’s gone. And finally, please let them know.
How very much their visits mean,
How even through this relentless mystery,
I can still feel their love.

Prayer E71

Dance, Sing and Live
Dance as if no one
were watching,
Sing as if no one
were listening,
And live every day
as if it were your last.

Prayer E74

Family Chain
Our family chain is broken
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one
the chain will link again.

Prayer E77

Family Chain
God hath not promised
Skies always blue,
Flowers-strewn pathways
All our lives through;
God hath not promised
Sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow,
Peace without pain.
But God hath promised
Strength for the day,
Rest for the labor,
Light for the way,
Grace for the trials,
Help from above,
Unfailing sympathy
Undying love.

Prayer E80

God Saw You Getting Tired (Male)
God saw he was getting tired,
and the cure was not to be,
so He put His arms around him
and whispered “Come with me.”
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer,
and saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

Prayer E83

His Journey
Don’t think of him as gone away
his journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears,
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.
Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today,
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.

Prayer E86

I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and I left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I’ve found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh, yes, these things I too shall miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I’ve savored much,
Good friends, good times, A loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Prayer E89

Let Us Pray (Female)
Incline Thine ear, O Lord, to our prayer,
in which we humbly entreat Thy mercy;
bring to the country of peace and light
the soul of Thy servant which Thou hast
summoned to go forth from this world
and bid it to be numbered with Thy
saints. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
May her soul and the souls of all
the faithful departed through all
the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Prayer E92

Life is but a Stopping Place
Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
But never meant to stay.
Our destination is a place
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.

Prayer E95

Loving and Kind (Male)
Loving and kind in all his ways,
Upright and just to the end of his days;
Sincere and true in his heart and mind,
beautiful memories he left behind.
He had a nature you could not help loving,
A heart that was purer than gold;
And to those who knew him and loved him,
His memory will never grow cold.

Prayer E98

My First Christmas in Heaven
I see the countless Christmas trees
around the world below,
with tiny lights, like heaven’s stars
reflecting on the snow.
The sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away the tear,
for I am spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.
I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart,
but I am not so far away,
we really aren’t apart.
So be happy for me dear ones,
you know how I hold you dear
and be glad I’m spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.
Please love and keep each other,
as my Father said to do,
for I can’t count the blessings or
the love he has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas
and wipe away that tear,
Remember, I am spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.

Prayer E101

Remembrance (Female)
You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see she has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow
and live yesterday or you can be happy for
tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she’s gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty
and turn your back, or you can do what she’d want,
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Prayer E104

Seasons - Ecclesiastes 3
To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up
that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time
to gather stones together; a time
to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep,
and a time to cast away; A time to rend,
and a time to sew; a time to keep silence,
and a time to speak; A time to love, and a
time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace.

Prayer E107

The Dash Between the Years (Female)
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning..... to the end.
He noted that first came her date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

Prayer E111

The Ship (Female)
I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads his white sails
to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean.
He is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch him until at length he hangs
like a speck of white cloud just where the sea
and the sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says;
“There, he is gone!” “Gone where?”
Gone from my sight. That is all.
He is just as large in mast and hull
and spar as he was when he left my side
and he is just as able to bear his load
of living freight to his destined port.
His diminished size is in me, not in him.
And just at the moment when someone at my side
says; “There, he is gone!” there are other eyes
watching him coming, and other voices ready
to take up the glad shout; “Here he comes!”

Prayer E113

TO THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME
When I am gone, release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tearsBe happy we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown
But now it’s time I travel alone.
So grieve a while for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It’s only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won’t be far away for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near
With all my love around you soft and dear.
And then, when you must come this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and a “Welcome You Home.”

Prayer E116

We Little Knew
We little knew that morning,
God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

Prayer E119

When I Must Leave You
When I must leave you for a little while,
please do not grieve and shed wild tears,
and hug your sorrow to you through the years.
But start out bravely with a gallant smile;
And for my sake and in my name
live on and do all things the same.
Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
but fill each waking hour in useful ways.
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer,
and I in turn will comfort you and hold you near.
And never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!

Prayer E122

When Through One Man
When through one man
A little more love and goodness,
A little more light and truth,
Come into the world,
Then that man’s life
Has had meaning.

Prayer E125

You Are Not Forgotten
You are not forgotten, loved one
Nor will you ever be,
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee.
We miss you now, our hearts are sore.
As time goes by we’ll miss you more.
Your loving smile, your gentle face,
No one can fill your vacant place.

Prayer E3

Act of Contrition
O my God, I am heartily sorry
for having offended Thee,
and I detest all my sins
because I dread the loss of Heaven
and the pains of hell, but most of all
because they offend Thee, my God,
Who art all-good
and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help
of Thy grace, to confess my sins,
to do penance and to amend my life.
Amen.

Prayer E6

Irish Blessing
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always
at your back.
May the sun shine warm
upon your face.
May the rains fall soft
upon your fields.
And until we meet again…
May God hold you
in the hollow of His hand.

Prayer E9

Our Lady of Czestochowa
HOLY MOTHER of Czestochowa,
Thou art full of grace, goodness and mercy.
I consecrate to Thee all my thoughts,
words and actions – my soul and body.
I beseech Thy blessings and especially
prayers for my salvation.
Today, I consecrate myself to Thee,
Good Mother, totally – with body and soul
amid joy and sufferings to obtain for myself
and others Thy blessings on this earth
and eternal life in Heaven. Amen.

Prayer E12

Prayer to the Sacred Heart
Oh most holy heart of Jesus,
fountain of every blessing,
I adore You and love You,
with deep sorrow for my sins
I offer You my heart.
Make me humble, patient,
pure and wholly obedient to Your will.
Grant, good Jesus, that I may
live in You and for You.
Protect me in the midst of danger,
comfort me in my afflictions.
Give me health of body,
assistance in my needs,
Your blessing on all that I do,
and the grace of a holy death. Amen.

Prayer E15

St. Augustine
Breath in me O Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may all be holy;
Act in me O Holy Spirit, that my work,
too, may be holy; Draw my heart O Holy Spirit,
that I love but what is holy;
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit,
to defend all that is holy;
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit,
that I always may be holy. Amen.

Prayer E18

St. Jude
MOST holy apostle St. Jude,
faithful servant and friend of Jesus,
the name of the traitor
who delivered thy beloved Master
into the hands of His enemies
has caused thee to be forgotten by many,
but the Church honors and invokes thee universally,
as the patron of hopeless cases,
of things despaired of.
Pray for me who am so miserable;
make use I implore thee,
of that particular privilege accorded to thee,
to bring visible and speedy help
where help is almost despaired of.
Come to my assistance in this great need
that I may receive the consolations and help
of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations,
and sufferings, particularly (Here make your request)
and that I may praise God
with thee and all the elect forever.
I promise thee, O blessed St. Jude,
to be ever mindful of this great favor,
and I will never cease to honor thee
as my special and powerful patron
and to do all in my power
to encourage devotion to thee. Amen.

Prayer E21

The Lord’s Prayer (Catholic)
Our Father, who art in heaven.
Hallowed be Thy name;
Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses as we
forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Prayer E24

God Hath Not Promised
God hath not promised
Skies always blue,
Flowers-strewn pathways
All our lives through.
God hath not promised
Sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow,
Peace without pain.
But God hath promised
Strength for the days,
Rest for the labor,
Light for the way.
Grace for the trials,
Help from above.
Unfailing sympathy
Undying love.

Prayer E27

The Lord’s Prayer (Protestant)
Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom Come, Thy will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our debts as we
forgive our debtors, and lead us not
into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
for Thine is the kingdom,
and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.

Prayer E30

A Mother Holds
Her Children’s Hands

A Mother holds
her children’s hands
for a while...
their hearts forever.

Prayer E33

One Mother
You can only have one mother,
patient, kind and true;
No other friend in all the world,
will be the same to you.
When other friends forsake you,
to mother you will return.
For all her loving kindness,
she asks nothing in return.
As we look upon her picture,
sweet memories we recall-
Of a face so full of sunshine,
and a smile for one and all.
Sweet Jesus, take this message,
to our dear mother up above.
Tell her how much we miss her-
and give her all our love.

Prayer E36

A Certain Kind of Father
There’s a certain kind of Father
who stands above the rest,
who always puts his family first
and always gives his best.
He has a fair and gentle way
of treating everyone,
and shares his quiet wisdom
gained from all he’s seen and done.
His children and his grandchildren
admire the way he lives,
and love him for the precious gifts
of family joy he gives.

Prayer E39

Father
Always kind to us was father,
Always good and brave and true.
Though his tasks were often heavy,
He would always see them through.
Never craved for fame or fortune,
Never sought the spotlight’s glare;
Always working, sacrificing,
Never failed to do his share.
Now he’s resting up in Heaven,
In that blessed land above;
Where there is no pain nor sorrow,
Only joy and peace and love.

Prayer E42

To Have You For Our Dad
To have you for our DAD,
Was cause enough for pride.
No one could ever equal you,
No matter how they tried.
You left us precious memories,
Your love is still our guide.
Although we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.

Prayer E45

A Place Where Children Are
What kind of place would heaven be
with all its streets of gold,
if all the souls, that dwell up there
like yours and mine were old?
How strange would heaven’s music sound
when harps begin to ring,
if children were not gathered round
to help the angels sing. The children
that God sends to us are only just a loan,
He knows we need their sunshine
to make the house a home.
We need the inspiration
of a baby’s blessed smile,
He doesn’t say they’ve come to stay,
just lends them for a while.
Sometimes it takes them years
to do the work for which they come.
Sometimes in just a month or two
our Father calls them home.
I like to think some souls up there
bear not one sinful scar. I love to think
of heaven as a place where children are.

Prayer E48

God Needed an Angel in Heaven (Boy)
God needed an angel in Heaven
To stand at the Savior’s feet;
His choice must be the rarest
A lily pure and sweet.
He gazed upon the mighty throng
Then stopped and picked the best,
Our child was His chosen one
With Jesus he’s now at rest.

Prayer E51

Taps
Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lakes, from the hills,
From the sky;
All is well, safely rest.
God is nigh.
Thanks and praise, for our days,
‘Neath the sun, ‘neath the stars,
‘Neath the sky;
As we go, this we know,
God is Nigh.
Amen.

Prayer E54

Fisherman’s Prayer
God grant that I may fish
Until my dying day
And when it comes to
My last cast
I then most humbly pray,
When in the Lord’s
soft landing net
I’m peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I be judged
As good enough to keep.

Prayer E57

Policeman’s Prayer
Lord, I ask for courage:
courage to face and conquer my own fears;
courage to take me where others will not go.
I ask for strength: strength of body
to protect others; strength of spirit
to lead others. I ask for dedication:
dedication to my job to do well;
dedication to my community to keep it safe.
Give me, Lord, concern: concern for all those
who entrust me; and compassion for those
who need me; and please, Lord,
through it all be at my side.

Prayer E60

Up on my Harley I fly
Across the Beautiful Blue Sky
Passing through Clouds of Blue
Feeling the winds strong and true
I keep humming the Eagles Song
“Yes I’m already gone”
“I sing this Victory Song”
“Cause I’m already gone”
Don’t give me pity,
nor say it’s a shame
Don’t complain and
give cancer the blame
My time was up, My body had enough.
I’ve got my Harley – equipped with wings
It’s rumbling through where angels sing
High above the clouds I ride,
But never too far from your side.
Remember me with a smile,
We’re only apart for a little while.
- Written In Memory of Doreen Caruso

Prayer E63

A Letter from Heaven
I’m writing this from Heaven
where I dwell with God above
where there’s no more tears or sadness,
there is just eternal love.
When you are walking down the street
and you’ve got me on your mind,
I am walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind.
And when you feel that gentle breeze
or the wind upon your face,
that is me giving you a great big hug
or just a soft embrace.
And when it’s time for you to go
from that body to be free,
remember you’re not going,
you are coming here to me.

Prayer E66

A Traveler Ventured Forth
A traveler ventured forth one day
Upon a long and winding road,
With faith and trust to lead the way,
With strength and will to bear his load.
And at a slow but steady pace,
In cold of storm, in warmth of sun,
He journeyed on from place to place
And gained some value from each one.
Until at last one quiet night,
He climbed a hill’s soft-rounding crest,
And saw afar a single light
That seemed to promise peace and rest.
Then following its glow, he came
Upon the house in which it shone.
A voice inside called out his name
And told him he was truly home.

Prayer E69

Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound,
that saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now am found,
was blind, but now I see.
Through many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come, tis grace hath brought
me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
bright shining as the sun, we’ve no less days
to sing God’s praise than when we first begun.

Prayer E72

Divine Mercy
“You died Jesus, but the source
of life flowed out for souls
and the ocean of mercy opened up
for the whole world. O Fountain
of Life immeasurable Divine Mercy,
cover the whole world and empty
Yourself out upon us.
“O Blood and Water which flowed
out from the heart of Jesus
as a Fountain of Mercy for us,
I trust in You!
“Holy God, Holy Mighty One,
Holy Immortal One, have mercy
on us and the whole world.”
Amen.
Jesus, King of Mercy,
we trust in You!

Prayer E75

Footprints
One night I had a dream. I dreamed I was
walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
From each scene, I noticed two sets
of footprints in the sand; one belonged to me,
and the other to the Lord. When the last scene
of my life flashed before me, I looked back
at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path
of my life there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in my life. This really bothered me
and I questioned the Lord about it.
“Lord you said that once I decided to follow you,
you’d walk with me the rest of the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome
times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why you left my side
when I needed you most.” The Lord replied,
“My precious child, I love you
and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.”

Prayer E78

God’s Garden
God looked around His Garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, “Peace be thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

Prayer E81

Guidelines For A Perfect Day
Just for today, I will try to live this day
only and not tackle all of life at once.
Just for today, I will be happy.
Happiness comes from within.
Just for today, I will accept the things
I cannot change and not try
to adjust everything to my own desires.
Just for today, I will take care of my body,
and care for it and nourish it both
physically and emotionally.
Just for today, I will try to strengthen
my mind. I will learn something useful.
Just for today, I will be agreeble,
be courteous, slow to criticize and find fault.
Just for today, I will have a program.
I may not follow it exactly,
but I’ll have it as a pattern to follow.
Just for today, I will have a quiet time,
all by myself, and relax. In this time,
I will think of God, so as to get
a little more perspective in my life.
Just for today, I will be unafraid
to be happy, to enjoy what is beautiful,
to love and be loved.

Prayer E84

I Said a Prayer For You Today
I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart
Although He spoke no word!
I didn’t ask for wealth or fame
(I knew you wouldn’t mind).
I asked Him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind!
I asked that He’d be near you
At the start of each new day;
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share your way!
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small.
But it was for His loving care
I pray for most of all!

Prayer E87

If Tears Could Build a Stairway
If tears could build a stairway
and memories were a lane,
I would walk right up to heaven
and bring you home again.
No farewell words were spoken
no time to say good-bye,
you were gone before I knew it
and only God knows why.
My heart still aches in sadness
and secret tears still flow,
for what it meant to lose you
no one will ever know.

Prayer E90

Let Us Pray (Male)
Incline Thine ear, O Lord, to our prayer,
in which we humbly entreat Thy mercy;
bring to the country of peace and light
the soul of Thy servant which Thou hast
summoned to go forth from this world
and bid it to be numbered with Thy
saints. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
May his soul and the souls of all
the faithful departed through all
the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Prayer E93

Love is Patient, Love is Kind
1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast,
it is not proud. It is not rude,
it is not self-seeking, it is not
easily angered, it keeps no record
of wrongs. Love does not delight
in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always hopes, always perseveres.
Love bears all things, believes all
things, endures all things.
Love never ends. Love never fails.

Prayer E96

Memories Live Forever
A bouquet of beautiful memories,
Sprayed with a million tears,
Wishing God could have spared you,
If just for a few more years.
It does not take a special day,
For us to think of you,
Each Mass we hear, Each prayer we say,
Is offered up for you.
We cannot bring the old days back,
When we were all together,
Our family chain is broken now,
But memories live forever.

Prayer E99

Remember Me
Fill not your hearts with pain and sorrow,
but remember me in every tomorrow.
Remember the joy, the laughter, the smiles,
I’ve only gone to rest a little while.
Although my leaving causes pain and grief,
my going has eased my hurt and given me relief.
So dry your eyes and remember me,
not as I am now, but as I used to be. Because,
I will remember you all and look on with a smile.
Understand, in your hearts, I’ve only gone to rest
a little while. As long as I have the love
of each of you, I can live my life
in the hearts of all of you.

Prayer E102

Remembrance (Male)
You can shed tears that he is gone,
or you can smile because he has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that he’ll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow
and live yesterday or you can be happy for
tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he’s gone,
or you can cherish him memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty
and turn your back, or you can do what he’d want,
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Prayer E105

Serenity
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change,
the courage to change
the things I can, and the wisdom
to know the difference.

Prayer E108

The Dash Between the Years (Male)
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on his tombstone
From the beginning..... to the end.
He noted that first came his date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
that he spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved him
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own;
The cars, the house, the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.

Prayer E114

Togetherness
Death is nothing at all --
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me
in the easy way which you always used to.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes
we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me,
pray for me. Let my name be the household word
it always was. Let it be spoken without effort.
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same
that it ever was; there is
absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of your mind because
I am out of your sight? I am but waiting for you,
for an interval somewhere very near,
just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is past;
nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be
as it was before, only better,
infinitely happier and forever.
We will be all one together with Christ.

Prayer E117

Weary
God saw you getting weary,
He did what He thought best;
He put His arms around you
And said ”Come and rest.”
He opened up His golden gates
On that heartbreaking day,
And with His arms around you
You gently slipped away.
It broke our hearts to lose you
You did not go alone;
A part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

Prayer E120

When Someone We Love
When someone we love
becomes a memory,
the memory becomes
a treasure.
Those who touch
our lives stay in
our hearts forever...

Prayer E123

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me
When tomorrow starts without me,
And I’m not here to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes,
Filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry,
The way you did today,
While thinking of the little things,
We didn’t get to say.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time you think of me,
I know you’ll miss me too.
When tomorrow starts without me,
Don’t think we are far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I’m right here in your heart.

Prayer E126

You Never Said Goodbye
You never said “I’m leaving”
You never said “goodbye”
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why
A million times I needed you,
A million times I’ve cried,
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
No one else can ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn’t go alone
Part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.
